“She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
“Winter is dead.”

Some Sick F*ck is Killing Our Eagles

Bad Ass Bald Eagle. Photo: public-domain-image.com

Some sick f*ck is killing America eagles on mass. It’s likely that at least some of the 18 birds killed over the past month were poisoned. It’s also possible that this was accidental. But that’s not an excuse for causing such wanton suffering to any wild animal population, much less one we’re so invested in as a nation. So whoever killed these birds ought not plan to hide behind ignorance; we ought to send a message that this carelessness is intolerable by handing them the highest fine possible (or go Liam Neeson on them).

The perfect football prank on an unsuspecting fan during the UEFA Champions League match between A.S. Roma and Real Madrid. Well played Heineken, well played.

The Legendary ‘Sweet Lou’ Snider – RIP

Sweet Lou_Louella Mae Snider_20160228

I learned of Sweet Lou’s passing today. A legendary, one of a kind woman who was a Minneapolis institution that ticked the ivories at Nye’s Polonaise Room for 45 years.

A group of us caught Lou’s act one last time during of her final month at Nye’s back in 2011.  I believe we were properly lubricated while the room sang “Sweet Caroline” on what was a memorable night.

Thank you for sharing the gift of music for so many year.

Norway’s Passport Redesign Includes Surprise Design Feature

On the heels of its new pixelated banknotes, Norway has now overhauled the look of its passport with a minimalist redesign that has a surprise feature on the inside. When the passport is held under a UV light, a scene of the Norwegian landscape turns from day to night, revealing swirls meant to evoke the spectacular northern lights, and hidden text appears.
