Wanted: Sci-Fi Classics With Retro 3-D Covers | Co.Design

Vintage Classics, an imprint of Random House UK, has republished five sci-fi novels in gorgeously kitschy covers full of splashy colors and eye-popping typography and camp illustrations on the order of a tentacle embracing an improbably phallic submarine (for Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea, natch). The kicker: They’re all rendered in 3-D. Nerdgasm!

2011 Formula 1 World Championship Poster Series | PJ Tierney

Irish Artist, PJ Tierney created a set of 19 posters in 19 days to commemorate the 2011 Formula 1 World Championship season.  The work was inspired by James White’s “Tron Legacy Countdown”  series as well as his own passion for great motor-sports in the world.  You can check out the complete series (which is available for purchase) from the first race that took place in Australia (seen below) to the last race of the season in Brazil at PJTierney.net.  I wonder if he would whip something up for the 2011 Indianapolis 500?

A Public Art Project Shows You the Colors You Should Be Eating – Food – GOOD

Tattfoo Tan, a Malaysian-born artist who lives in Staten Island, New York, takes regular trips to the Union Square Greenmarket. After photographing his purchases, he started using Photoshop’s eyedropper tool to extract 88 colors that would best represent 88 different fruits and vegetables. He called it the Nature Matching System.
